Most windproof and Soft Surface Jackets

Buy the right size. A waterproof jacket should fit you just right, without restricting your movement. When you try one, move: jump and bend or wave your arms. Do whatever it takes to ensure you have a free range of motion.

Pay attention to the weight. Lightweight jackets are excellent options for individuals who do not plan to wear their jacket for extended periods of time or in heavy rain, but people planning to spend a day in a rainy exterior should make up their minds to look for a medium-weight jacket. Heavy jackets typically offer added protection from the elements. A jacket that is too heavy can hinder your movements, however, it makes it less ideal for intense physical activities.

Know the differences between waterproof and waterproof. Most windproof and soft surface jackets fall into the category of water-resistant. They keep you dry during light rain, mist, and snow, but will leave you drenched after a downpour. Hard surface jackets often have waterproof laminates or coatings that repel large amounts of moisture more effectively.

Find the best amount of breathability. A jacket that is waterproof in both directions will keep you dry from the rain, but it will also keep your sweat trapped inside. As such, these jackets are a poor choice for hikers and climbers. These individuals should look for jackets with a special membrane layer that allows small sweat-like water molecules to pass through while trapping the droplets on the outside.

Consider waterproof-coated jackets as a cheap alternative. Jackets that contain waterproof membranes also called “laminates,” offer the best balance between waterproofness and breathability, but can be slightly more expensive. Waterproof coatings are very effective at repelling rain, but breathability is often restricted.

Only wear non-breathable rain gear during stationary activities. Most minimally coated rainwear offers minimal breathability, but some fully coated fabrics and ponchos do not. As a result, wearing them during exercise can cause you to overheat. Only use these jackets for stationary activities, such as during bird watching or fishing.

Invest in a high-quality jacket if you plan to wear it during long, intense activities. Cycling, mountaineering, and runners generate a lot of body heat and sweat, making a breathable jacket essential to avoid discomfort and overheating. They also spend a lot of time outside, so solid waterproofing is equally essential. A cheap and poorly constructed jacket will do an inefficient job of providing either one.

Wear a soft surface jacket on days of minimal precipitation. The soft surface jackets are made of tight-knit yarns and have excellent breathability, making them comfortable for intense exercise and occasional walks. They only delay water penetration, however, and do not prevent it, making them a poor choice for heavy rainfall.

Buy a snowsports jacket to protect you from precipitations of snowy weather. These jackets are designed to keep you warm while insulating you from snow and sleet. Find one if you intend to wear your jacket for cold climates of mountaineering, ice skating, skiing, snowboarding, or mountain climbing.

Find a  black leather jacket with a hat. Any situation that exposes your torso to water will also expose your head, and many hats can be much more effective at keeping your head out of moisture than umbrellas or hats. Detachable hats give you the option to remove the hat when you don't need it.

Consider a laced used Harley Davidson leather jackets. The laces are usually located at the bottom hem, waist, and neck. During heavy or cold precipitation, you can pull on the laces to provide maximum protection. When you need more freedom of movement, you can loosen the laces.
